OOTD: Happy Halloween!!

It’s that time of the year again… The only time when you’re permitted to throw rotten eggs at people’s houses, although I’m sure they would prefer it if you don’t *hint*. The only time in the year when you can get away with wearing head-to-toe black without having to worry about Anna Wintour’s judgement (watch this video if you don’t know what I’m talking about).

I must confess though, I wouldn’t traditionally celebrate Halloween… in fact, I never have and don’t intend to do so this year either, but I figured I should join in the festive spirits and make an effort to dress up a little for the event so here’s an outfit I feel is appropriate for my OOTD today.

3916001039160011Tee: River Island | Skinnies: Topman | Loafers: Topman

I’m not really one to wear generic tees. I love a tee with an irregular shape, cut or design. This River Island oversized tee is an online bargain that I paid a fiver for when they were offering free delivery. The kimono-like sleeves, drapey hem and baggy chest pocket big enough to fit a kitchen sink just grabbed me instantly. It’s very left-of-centre in every aspect so matches my style and personality to a t. No pun intended. Here, I pair it with my staple Topman stretch skinnies for minimalism (SHOCKER!!) and comfort.

Now, on to the shoes. At the moment, I’m strangely attracted to any form of footwear patent and shiny. So as soon as I laid my eyes on these Topman loafers in their Manchester Market Street store, I knew I had to have them. Let’s face it, there’s a reason why Anna Wintour detests head-to-toe black, because it can often be dull and dreary. However, I think these loafers inject a bit of life and character to the look. I could’ve easily gone for some black desert boots or leather brogues but that would’ve looked far less imaginative and striking. Quite honestly, I feel these are the perfect finishing touch to pull the look together and give it that extra oomph it desparately needs.

This is as far as I would go for my Halloween outfit. Still, for my first, I think I’ve done pretty well. Thoughts? 😉

Special thanks to Leanda Heler for taking these pictures. Check out her impressive works here. This was one of the two looks we shot in town earlier this week. If you haven’t seen the other (triple denim) shoot yet, it’s here. The shoot was heaps of fun and as I’ve said to her before, she’s an absolute dream to work with, so hopefully you’ll be seeing more of our collaborations in the near future!!

Love, Oliver

I was pleasantly surprised to see your OOTD isn’t the usual Halloween ‘costume’! I don’t go in for halloween either, I don’t even wear black. I have a colour business where I show clients the best colours for their skin tone. You look so good is strong and bold colours so you can wear black no problem. I don’t know much about male fashion but to me it looks simple and effortless yet very stylish and trendy. I like the way your jeans are rolled up and you’re wearing no socks with your shoes. Have a good weekend!

Thanks! I’m really glad you like the outfit and how I styled it. I’ve always liked black on myself but I also try to be more adventurous and wear more colours.
