OOTD: Corduroy On Vintage Check

003

In a way, this OOTD is an extension of my recent posts (this and this) – featured in the look is a multicoloured check shirt, one of many gems from the Manchester-based online retailer Cat Called Esteban Vintage. This is the second of the two OOTDs I’d planned with their products and I’m sure there’ll be plenty more to come as their eBay store is full of similarly great items at incredibly reasonable prices. If you’re into vintage fashion as much as I do, be sure to check them out here!!

You can see in the bat wing-like sleeve demonstrated here that the shirt is very oversized but what you can’t see is that it’s actually knee length. As it’s already so colourful (by my definition), I was mindful of not overcrowding the outfit by adding any more colours unnecessarily. So I mirrored two of the shades in the shirt by layering it on top of a plain white v-neck tee from H&M and a pair of black spray-on skinnies from Topman .

And as promised in my previous post, here are the Private White V.C. elements that initially inspired the outfit:

002Jacket: Gap | Shirt: Cotton Republic from Cat Called Esteban Vintage* | Tee: H&M | Belt: Topman | Skinnies: Topman | Boots: Kurt Geiger (similar)

This Gap corduroy bomber is really warm and cosy. The colour is great for my tanned skin tone. However, at £64.95, it’s slightly more than what I would usually pay for an outerwear but if you’re after a sturdy shell to keep you toasty this winter, then this is the investment I’d recommend you make. To complete the look, I colour matched it with these suede boots by Kurt Geiger… ironically, this is the first appearance of suede in an outfit post despite the fact that the material makes up half of my blog name. :/ Anyhow, I use them as more accessible substitutions of some garments from the Private White V.C. A/W14 collection and this is how I’d style the brand’s rustic charm using high street brands.

As much as I adore the snugginess of the jacket, I thought the outfit looked pretty good with if off too… it’s definitely an ensemble that I’ll be happy to wear more often, if and when we have some sun again.

Credits go to Leanda Heler for these fab pictures – she’s just such a sweetheart and great photographer to work with!! Everyone check out her portfolio here!!

Love, Oliver

Great post Oliver. I love vintage and never heard of the boutique you mentioned so going to check that out. Cool to see that you were inspired by Private White V.C., your jacket has a similar look to their G1 Shearling Collar Bomber Jacket :) Katie.
