One man’s trash is another man’s treasure. Until my recent pop-over to Brussels, I had always been a tad skeptical about this old-fashioned cliché of a statement… but then I came across this vintage gorgeousness laying around in a mount of preloved clothes in a vintage shop.
#So I Love Travelling
I admit it. Ever since I was bitten by the travel bug, I’ve been trying to live the life of an A-list globetrotter on a G-list budget and I can assure you that it takes a lot of discipline and self-restraint from some of the most basic human urges, i.e. dining out, Netflix, advanced gadgets, Doritos… but it’s all worth it.
I make every place I visit an inspiring one for my personal style so for this look, I recreate a Parisian look based on my recollections of the fashion capital from last year’s trip.
#The Key Pieces
First of all, you need a vintage jacket. Preferably denim. Definitely a Levi’s, because… Um… Levi’s?
Jacket: Levi’s (similar) | Shirt: H&M | Bandana: eBay | Chinos: Topman | Belt: Topman | Loafers: Mr Hare
I got this dazzling white one for next to nothing in a vintage shop I stumbled upon in Brussels. And God, I love me some kilo sales… they’re practically legalised robberies. I mean do you ever feel like your conscience slowly being chipped away a little by the gram? No, me neither.
It’s not like me to accessorise but in order to achieve the full potential of this secondhand stunner, I broke out a paisley bandana (here worn as a neckerchief) I acquired back in one of my many experimental phases. Now it finally finds its true purpose in my wardrobe!
#How I Wear ’em
Effortlessness and sophistication is key to execute the Parisian chic. It doesn’t have to be too prim and proper but it most certainly needs to look collected and put-together. In other words, you have to dress up like you’ve never dressed up before. Make an effort without looking like you even spared one single thought of the outfit.
These classic loafers are from Mr Hare, a British footwear designer whose A/W16 collection presentation in London Collections: Men I had the honour to attend. Having seen his designs up close, I’m glad to finally have the immense pleasure to feature a pair of their beautiful creations on my blog.
When you’re wearing such beautiful shoes, you show them off, which is why I pair them with these Topman cropped chinos cut at the right length above the ankles to reveal the full glory laid beneath.
