Five Steps to a Brighter Smile + Giveaway

smile04Words & Photos: @oliverinstead

This week I’m doing something massively different that I’ve never done before, not just for my blog but in my life in general. It’s something I’ve always hoped to do and today I will finally do it – I’m going to try a professional teeth whitening kit, courtesy of Smile Brilliant. These lovely peeps are also very generously giving away $139.95 worth of store credit, which would pay for an entire set of kit just like mine to one of my lucky readers! Read on to see how you can win.

smile01As I’m sure you can tell by the title, this is a two-part collab – in this blog post I will demonstrate and give you some tips on how to successfully carry out the first half of the process before the whitening takes place, which is creating the dental impressions. It’s super easy if you follow these five simple steps… but before you do anything, I’mma need you to floss and brush your teeth, and grab yourself a piece of tissue of two:

1. Mix the pastes

smile03Ok, so in the box, you will find these cute little containers that I’ll surely be reusing for other things – but that’s not the point, the point is you need to first mix one tub of catalyst paste (white) with one tub of base paste (blue) thoroughly until it’s a solid blue, which should take no longer than a minute.

2. Put the mixed putty into a tray

Within 30 seconds, try to evenly stuff the Play-Doh putty into one of the blue Y-shaped trays and make sure every corner is filled. Note: Do one tray at a time.

3. Insert the tray into your mouth, and wait

For the peeps at Smile Brilliant to make teeth whitening trays that fit, you need to ensure your front and back teeth enter the putty simultaneously, press deep enough so they feel totally immersed in the putty without biting.

Keep the tray in your mouth for two to three minutes. Tip: Play a song that’s around three minute long so when the song ends, you know the tray is ready to come out. Repeat for the lower dental impressions, and if you mess up, there’s a standby set of materials available.

4. Take out the tray and leave to dry

If you can clearly see the impression of your teeth in the putty, you’re good! Now you can go off and carry on with your life as it was for at least 30 minutes. Just know that when you take the tray out, it’s not going to look pretty so after half an hour, run them under cold water to get rid of the excess saliva… because there’ll be gallons of it…

smile07 smile06Once the impressions are fully set and solid, put everything (including the filled-out return card) into the provided envelope and send it off!

So, the goodies! To enter the giveaway, simply follow both myself and Smile Brilliant on Instagram (as well as other platforms to increases your chances) and submit your details here, all of which takes less than a minute so go do it! 欲参加抽奖的朋友,请加我本人Smile Brilliant的Instagram账号并且在此网页填入你的名字和地址。

Notes: Although this giveaway is open internationally, the prize credit will not pay for the postage required to send the impressions back to the company in the States. The winner will be announced in the second part of the collab so watch this space.

Just to emphasise, I have yet to go through with the entire process, which takes weeks so I can’t show you the results as of yet. However, I’m hoping to be able to show you guys my polished pearly whites as soon as!

Now that I have finally given up smoking, I desperately need something like this to return my teeth back to a nice white colour!

I am looking forward to seeing your results.

I have never smoked and I don’t drink coffee or red wine, or anything that stains my teeth so they’re pretty white but still, I wouldn’t mind if they were a shade or two brighter. 🙂

This is really professional, I love the way that you get the mould for you and just you. So you don’t end up like Ross from Friends if you remember that far back…

Haha, no I don’t remember that but yeah, Smile Brilliant is different from the other brands on the market because you get dental trays that are actually made for YOU so you get the maximum whitening effect.

Can’t wait to see the results! 😉 If I were probably younger and single 😉 I might try them out. Not that I don’t care about my appearance anymore in my early 40s, but let’s just say, at the moment, I have other things to worry about 🙂 But yes, excited to see the results 🙂

Ooh this is exciting! I cant wait to see your before shots! I would love to have my teeth whitened but to have it done professionally is so expensive isn’t it? I use a whitening toothpaste but never see any real benefit, will look forward to your next post!

It does cost a few hundred quid to get your teeth bleached… and that ain’t my budget! This sounds like a really good product judging by other reviews on the Internet, and you do see results! So I’m excited to receive my own dental trays!

Yes, yellow teeth put me off… not judging, I’m just obsessed with oral hygiene. I try to keep my teeth as clean as possible, and this will hopefully take it to the next level. 🙂
