One of the things I look forward to seeing the most when I visit a new city anywhere in the world, is the local market. I have done in the last couple of years with Milan, Apriltsi in Bulgaria, the Chinatown in Bangkok, Hua Hin, Yangon and my personal favourite ones back home in Malaysia (yes, I do enjoy a bit of travelling…) I find it’s one of the things that best reflect a place’s true colours.
This trip was no different.
Day 3 I visited Paris’ oldest and most famous flea market – Marché aux Puces at the North end of Metro Line 4. Continue Reading
Still can’t believe I’ve finally been to Paris after all these years! It still feels so surreal to me that I sometimes find myself just pausing for a second or two to let the experience sink in. It’d been a long time coming.
First things first, I like to apologise for not keeping up to date with my Paris Diary as I landed in the fashion capital of the world with an exhausted laptop and its charger left behind in my Manchester home.
The good news is, I had my notebook with me so I was able write down my thoughts everyday and compile a series of photos – some of which I’ll be posting on either LookBook, Instagram or Twitter (make sure you follow @oliverinstead on all platforms) but you see them here first-
Day 1 was a very early start. I was up at 3 in the morning, out the door by 4 and landed in Paris at about 9 local time. Continue Reading
As a long weekend I’d previously booked in the city of lights happens to coincide with the most influential fashion week of the ‘Big Four’ – Paris Fashion Week, I have some amazing plans for the blog!
In anticipation for the weekend ahead in the world’s most stylish city, I’ll be sharing tips on what I’ll be packing as well as how to pack light enough to reserve room in your luggage for new clothes but still look chic and varied in your day-to-day outfits. To do that, I’ll be keeping track of my every day and evening look in a photo diary here and Instagram (follow @oliverinstead), starting this Thursday.
This is my first time in Paris and for a small town boy from Northern Malaysia, there really is no word to express my excitement. While I won’t be able to attend any of the shows (or will I…), I’ll be sure to hang around Carrousel du Louvre to soak in some Parisian fashion… and you’ll never know, maybe rub shoulders with an industry pro or two.
So! Feel free to comment below and let me know the must-gos, dos, sees, eats and etc. in Paris or share your personal tips on packing light without compromising on the quality of you style!
Bonjour, Paris! Love, Oliver
