LC:M A/W15 // Cambridge Satchel Company Collection Preview

Yesterday, as soon as I dropped my bags off at the hotel in Central London, I dashed out the door and headed straight to Cambridge Satchel Company‘s very snazzy new store in Covent Garden – if you haven’t been there yet, find details here and make sure you pay them a visit.

I was welcomed by the staff with warm friendly greetings and directed upstairs where the PR manager, Harriet gave me a sneak-peek to their A/W15 collection eyed on a May or June release. Here, I have handpicked several favourites of mine that you can admire until such time as they hit the shop shelves:

This season, the brand’s aim is to reinvent the classics and put a modern twist on the original style they’re so well established in and the outcome is beyond stunning. I say that because there isn’t a single design on display that I wouldn’t like the own… especially the double-handle music bag, which is my clear stand-out and I’m working towards rewarding myself with one come this autumn.

Compared to the originals, the new shapes are less boxy and the lines appear visibly softer but still retaining the all important characteristics that make a good ol’ schoolbag, like the flap, front compartment, leather straps, metal details and all the carefully-measured stitches.DSC_0046 DSC_0043 DSC_0051 DSC_0054

They are also much more versatile than the classics. Colour-wise, the upcoming collection is not as bright and bold as their retro counterparts. Instead, it stays within a more natural palette that will appeal to the dappers and sharp dressed men alike so there really is something for everyone at Cambridge Satchel Company next season.

Harriet also introduced to me every line that you can currently find online, in their own stores as well as stockists located all over the country and internationally, which includes the luxurious Saddle Collection, featuring totes, clutches, work bags and of course, satchels all made in the UK with premium saddle leather:

On the fingertip, the material felt smooth and sturdy – these are the pieces that will age to perfection. Also in the showroom were the music bags, batchels and the travel-inspired Expedition Collection:DSC_0017 DSC_0014 DSC_0020

If you’re looking to invest in a classic, smart, quality (man)bag, there’s never been a better time to do so than the present since satchels have become such a popular accessory in the last few years. After visiting the Cambridge Satchel Company’s store and seeing all their glossy products, there’s hardly any wonder why the brand is practically synonymous with the trend.

I remember seeing a Google Chrome advert for the Cambridge Satchel Company, but I always thought it was a bag shop for teenage girls up until now because everyone I know that has one from them is well, a teenage girl, I didn’t realise they sold more straightforward satchels that weren’t bright neon.
I could see myself with a satchel in the same colour as the blue batchel in the second to last picture, if only they weren’t so pricey, ebay for me I guess lol

Oh yeah, I remember that ad!!

Their prices are slightly on the expensive side but trust me, it’s worth it. The quality is top notch and when you think about it, it’s actually not even that expensive considering what you get… If you’re only going to invest in one bag in 2015, then go for a Cambridge batchel. 🙂
