OOTD // Lint-detailed Tee in Langkawi

So it’s been almost a week since I returned from my wonderful trip to South East Asia, and I’m still not quite climatising to the unique Mancunian weather. Then again, I suppose one second sunshine and hailing the next is never easy for anyone to get used to.

One of the absolute highlights of my trip was undoubtedly the brief stay in Langkawi, where these photos were taken:

A bit of a geography lesson here: Langkawi is an archipelago of 104 islands, although strangely the locals believe there are only 99… Located in the Andaman Sea, it is 30km off the mainland coast of my home state of Kedah, in North West Malaysia.

This little island has some of the most incredible natural beauty and beaches you’ll ever see! There’s hardly any wonder why parts of it were granted the World Geopark status by UNESCO. I mean there are places where you can find fossils from the Early Jurassic epoch… now I would try modernising the whole thing by using urban slangs to describe this manificient Jewel of Kedah but truth be told, ‘cool’ and ‘awesome’ could never.

As lovely as these photos are, I don’t think they do the sceneries any justice because in real life, it took my breath away pretty much wherever I looked…

Tee: Selected Homme | Shorts: Topman | Belt: ASOS | Shoes: Bertie

For my first beach shoot, I decided to feature this Selected Homme tee which colour perfectly complemented the spectacular soft-sandy beach. From afar, this top may appear as common as dirt but on closer inspection, it actually has these little fluffy lint details that immediately attracted me at the very first glance. Also, the material feels so nice and smooth as you can see in the pictures, it grabbed onto my body so gently just like a piece of silk even against the mildest of sea breezes.

In a lame attempt to mirror the colour of the sea water, I threw some denim here and there into the ensemble but since there was no way to replicate the beautiful aquamarine of the ocean, I failed in that sense. Although, in terms of balancing the soft and hardness of this outfit, I thought the washed nature of these Topman shorts and used-solely-for-decorative-purposes jacket did a pretty good job in adding a drop of masculinity without coming off overly harsh.

Ok, I just need to talk about this super convenient ASOS leather plaited belt with a gold-toned buckle that allows me to choose freely the tightness I like for a second…langkawi005It’s brilliant because my tricky waistline tends to float anywhere from 28 to 30 depending on the ever varying manufacturer sizing standards, but with this belt, I’m now able to adjust it to whatever fits any time I fancy. How did I not acquire one of these earlier? Finally, to finish off the look, I wore those Bertie shoes previously featured in my Pu Luong Nature Reserve post (here).

I wish I could’ve stayed in Langkawi for longer because there was too much more left to be explored. I was happy nonetheless to finally have been able to experience the paradise because even though it’s not far from where I grew up, I had surprisingly never been there. If you ask me now where would be the best location for an exotic Malaysian getaway for anyone, I probably wouldn’t have to think twice as I truly believe if there’s only one place in Malaysia you’re going to see, make it Langkawi.

Love, Oliver
