At least once a month I aim to get away to anywhere from an hour drive to an hour flight away…
WORDS: OLIVER @OLIVERINSTEAD / PHOTOS: DAVID
Travelling is one of the few things that give me greater joy than fashion blogging so I like to spend my spare time off work exploring (new) places… or daydreaming about the next destination in between.
This is an outfit I wore during a weekend retreat to Yorkshire – I had to break out my Calvin Klein sunglasses though I’ve never been a sunnies person but because the weather was so kind to us, I felt obligated to incorporate them into the outfit.
Shirt: GAP | Sunnies: Calvin Klein | Chinos: Topman | Loafers: Paolo Sartori | Bag: Savile Row Company
For the rest of the ensemble, I kept it minimal with simply a GAP white shirt and these super comfy but still smart cropped chinos from Topman. When it comes to dressing for travelling, comfort takes precedence – on long haul flights or lenghthy journeys in general, I try to dress as casually as possible. That means slim fit jeans that provide plenty of room for my legs to breathe and a loose fit shirt or tee with a jumper on stand-by.
My passion for travels is almost as deeply rooted as that I have for fashion – my earliest memory dates as far back as to primary school, flipping through educational magazines and coming across a page filled with colourfully illustrated cartoons of world festivals and landmarks. Innocently, I made a then naive-sounding comment to my older brother that one day, I would be going to all these places…
Little did he know, I was dead serious about it!!
Ok, perhaps I haven’t been able to visit all of those places but I have already seen more of the world than most people in my hometown have and for that, I count myself extremely lucky…
Then again, why wouldn’t I??
In a few months’ time, I’ll be embarking on my third trip home to Malaysia since relocating to the UK and this time I’m foregoing the rest of Asia and crossing the Tasman Sea to New Zealand!!! Yup, it’s going to be a trip of a lifetime and I’m doing it with fabulous company so watch this space, as I suspect there’ll be some sensational photo opps… 😉
Love, Oliver

I understand your love for wanting to explore new places! After I went traveling in my second year of Uni, I got the travel bug. I have just booked a month in Bali for the end of the year. I spend my days at work daydreaming of being there! x
